Meet “Phang Nong Phon”: The Supermom Elephant of Nongnooch Garden Pattaya- A story of pride, conservation, and a new life born under the stars.

At the heart of Nongnooch Garden Pattaya’s Elephant Camp lives a true legend of the Thai elephant world — Phang Nong Phon, a remarkable mother elephant who recently made headlines after successfully giving birth to her sixth calf. With each new birth, she continues to prove that she’s not just any elephant — she’s a champion breeder, a pillar of the conservation efforts led by one of Thailand’s most beloved botanical and cultural destinations.

 A Champion Mother

What makes Phang Nong Phon stand out isn’t just the number of calves she’s birthed — it’s how effortlessly she does it. Known among the staff and veterinarians for her calm and capable nature, Phang Nong Phon gave birth to her most recent baby quietly and unexpectedly in the middle of the night, with no prior signs or alerts. Yet, the surprise was welcomed with joy as the newborn was found healthy and full of life, immediately receiving expert care and attention.

A Ceremony of Blessings

To honor the arrival of this newest member of the elephant family, Nongnooch Garden Pattaya held a traditional blessing ceremony. Presiding over the ritual was Phra Khru Silasaratikun, Chief Monk of Sattahip Subdistrict and Abbot of Wat Khao Khanthamat. In a heartfelt moment filled with Thai culture and reverence, the baby elephant was blessed with sacred powder, garlands, and holy water — a symbol of good fortune and protection for both the newborn and the herd.

In a gesture of love and pride, Mr. Kampon Tansacha, President of Nongnooch Garden Pattaya, personally gave the baby a graceful and meaningful name: Phang Praewphon.

A Commitment to Thai Elephant Conservation

The birth of Phang Praewphon is not only a joyful event, it also underlines Nongnooch Garden Pattaya’s deep commitment to conserving and nurturing Thailand’s national symbol — the Asian elephant. In fact, this marks the fourth elephant born in the camp this year alone. The camp is proud to be the first in Thailand certified by the Department of Livestock Development and the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards for good practices in elephant care.

This certification is not merely a title — it reflects the ethical treatment, professional veterinary care, and the natural environment provided for the elephants at Nongnooch Garden. Every calf born is a sign that conservation done right can lead to real, sustainable outcomes.

Why It Matters

In a time where elephant populations across Asia are under threat from habitat loss and exploitation, stories like Phang Nong Phon’s offer hope and inspiration. They show that with respect, knowledge, and proper care, we can create a world where elephants not only survive — but thrive.

At Nongnooch Garden Pattaya, every elephant birth is more than a biological event — it’s a celebration of life, tradition, and the future of one of Thailand’s most treasured animals.
